Day 1

Departure from Kirkenes

Kirkenes → Vardø → Båtsfjord → Berlevåg

Welcome aboard in Kirkenes! The border with Russia is only a few kilometres away, and the road signs in Kirkenes are in Norwegian and Russian. You can go as far as the border on one of our excursions, or how about a visit to the Snowhotel where everything is made of ice and snow?

For the rest of the first day on board, we recommend that you explore the ship and simply enjoy the beautiful Arctic nature that flows by outside the large panoramic windows. How about a workout in our well-equipped gym on deck 7? Or a dip in our jacuzzi on deck 8 followed by a visit to the sauna? In the evening, enjoy a nice dinner in Havrand and we assume you will sleep well in comfortable beds after eventful days in the Arctic.

Day 2

Into the polar landscape

Mehamn → Kjøllefjord → Honningsvåg → Havøysund → Hammerfest → Øksfjord → Skjervøy → Tromsø

The polar landscape changes as we sail towards the west and south again. The great expanses are replaced by steep peaks, and in the evening we sail into Tromsø. You can take a stroll in the midnight sun or under the Northern Lights and explore the nightlife of the city dubbed "The Paris of the North".

Day 3

Trollfjord and arrival in Svolvær

Finnsnes → Harstad → Risøyhamn → Sortland → Stokmarknes → Svolvær

We sail through Raftsundet and into the magical Trollfjord, where you'll get to experience the majestic fjord silently and emission-free as the ship switches to battery power. A unforgettable experience before the ship sails down to Svolvær, were you'll step on shore at 18:30. A driver will greet you there and take you on Scenic Route Lofoten to Ballstad village where Hattvika Lodge is located.

Step Back in Time to the Viking Age

Step back in time to the viking age at Lofotr Viking Museum. The world’s biggest Viking Age longhouse has been found and excavated at Borg in the Lofoten Islands. A rich and powerful dynasty of chieftains ruled here during the Viking Age. A full-scale reconstruction of the longhouse and the authentic surrounding environment have been built up. Lunch and Organic Cheese making in Lofoten

Get acquainted with a family of Dutch origin who fell in love with Lofoten and decided to buy their own farm and start making cheese from biodynamic milk. Learn about the historical importance of goat herding in this region, make organic cheese, and learn about the whole process from when the dairy is milked until it ends up on your plate as cheese. You will, of course, also taste a selection of the cheese they make on the farm.

Dinner at Restaurant Fangst - An Arctic Taste with an Authentic Feel

6 course tasting menu: Restaurant Fangst takes pride in showcasing the best of local flavours through a modern Bistro-style dining experience, with an emphasis on tasting menus. Situated in close proximity to the fishing grounds outside Ballstad, their menu is centred around the daily catch of seafood, delivered fresh to their doorstep. Operating under the guiding principle of "From Sea to Table," the head chef and restaurant manager meticulously plan seasonal menus that are eagerly awaited and served.

Those who have the 7-day package, will be driven to Svolvær and board the ship after today's sightseeing.

Those who have the 8-day package will continue back to Hattvika Lodge.


Day 6

Leaving Lofoten

This part of the voyage marks the last day of the 8-day package.

Immersion in local fishing culture and the life of a Lofoten fisherman

Venture to the charming Nusfjord fishing village, where you're invited to join in on a extraordinary fishing adventure and cast your line with the local captain, who will expertly guide you and share their wealth of knowledge. Feel the exhilaration as you reel in your prized catch and immerse yourself in the tranquil allure of the picturesque waters that surround you.

Lunch and 'værvandring' - a historical guided tour

After your fishing trip, lunch is served in the charming Landhandleriet Kafe. Lunch will be followed by a walk into one of the oldest fisherman villages in Norway where you may discover the stories behind every building. Our local guide will tell you some interesting facts about the fisherman's life and the Norwegian lifestyle.

8-day package: This is the last day in Lofoten and you will now be transported back to Svolvær to embark on your Havila Voyages ship going south.


Day 7

Crossing the Arctic Circle

Torghatten summer

Now we have come so far south that we're crossing the Arctic Circle and sailing away from the polar night and the sunlit nights. But you can still see the Northern Lights in the winter, and it is never completely dark during the summer nights. Here you sail past a myriad of small islands, islets and skerries and past the special mountain, Torghatten, which has a hole in the middle. If you wish, you can also go on the trip to the mountain and enter the hole.

Day 8

Sailing into Trondheim

After the last night on board, you wake up in historic Trondheim. We arrive in Trondheim at 6:30 AM, but the ship remains docked until 9:30 AM, so you have time to eat breakfast before disembarking.

There are many options for onward travel, either by train or plane. Or perhaps you would like to stay in the beautiful capital of Trøndelag for a few days before ending your vacation?
