There is lots of traffic in the harbour in Honningsvåg. It is one of the largest fishing ports, the country's northernmost pilot station and the largest cruise port in northern Norway. Fishermen come here to deliver the catch, and tourists come to experience the North Cape.
The journey to the North Cape takes you through an open, spectacular landscape where thousands of reindeer graze during the summer. And then the continent stops and plunges over three hundred metres straight down into the sea. This is one of Europe's extreme points. Now there’s only Svalbard between you and the North Pole. Be sure to take some photos of the iconic globe, or send postcards home from this adventurous destination.
Even as far north as this, the snow melts and summer makes itself felt. But you can still experience the magical beauty of the ice if you visit during the summer. In Honningsvåg, an entire bar has been built of natural ice. Photographs—and the cold—enhance the Arctic experience. You probably don't even need ice cubes in your drink!
