Formations such a twelve-metre high giant rock, "The Woman in the Mountains", have been created in the cliffs and rocks. Another special rock is the mythical and powerful "Noaidesteinen" which stands tall and alone in a bare mountain landscape. The name of the stone stems from the Sami word for medicine man, one who could make contact with supernatural forces.
The road to Havøysund is so beautiful that it is a national tourist route. The large wind farm on the mountain above Havøysund means that you can drive all the way to the top of the plateau over Havøysund to Arctic View. Here you are at the edge of the Barents Sea. Almost as far north as the North Cape, with the same open sea and the same Northern Lights, but far fewer people.
