Combine exciting ATV riding with great views of Honningsvåg and the Arctic landscape of Magerøya.
Explore Magerøya by ATV and enjoy spectacular Arctic views of Honningsvåg, the fjords, mountains and Barents Sea.
Experience the Arctic winter landscape on an exciting ATV safari, with views of fjords, mountains, and the open sea along the way. Wear sturdy shoes and warm, windproof clothing. The supplier provides all necessary equipment, including a helmet, gloves, an insulated driving suit, and winter boots.
The tour starts in Honningsvåg, where you meet your guide and receive a safety briefing before helmets and necessary equipment are handed out. Once everyone is ready, we set off on the ATVs into the winter landscape of Magerøya.
We follow the coastal road out of town before turning onto the gravel road that winds up the mountainside toward the top of the so-called NATO mountain. The mountain is named after the Norwegian Air Force radar station that once stood here and was part of NATO’s radar system. As we gain elevation, the landscape opens up around us, offering wider views of fjords, mountains, sea, and open plateaus. At the top, we take a short break to enjoy the view and take photos. From here you can see Honningsvåg, the harbour, and the surrounding landscape. On clear days, the view stretches far out over the Barents Sea and the Arctic surroundings. From the viewpoint, you can also see the Havila ship docked in Honningsvåg below.
In mid-winter, the tour takes place during the polar night, when the sun does not rise above the horizon even in the middle of the day. The soft light creates a special atmosphere, while houses and streetlights provide warm points of light in the winter darkness. As spring approaches, the days gradually become brighter, and snow-covered mountains and plateaus contrast with the sea and fjords around Magerøya.
After the short stop at the top, we return to Honningsvåg along the same route. Before the return journey, the driver and passenger switch places so that both get the opportunity to drive the ATV.
The activity takes place outdoors in winter conditions, and weather, terrain, and driving conditions may vary. The organizer reserves the right to modify, cancel, or make changes to the tour, route, and program if necessary due to safety considerations, weather, terrain, or other unforeseen circumstances.
