Here you will have the opportunity to meet reindeer up close, feed them, and learn about the rich culture and traditions that have shaped Sámi life through generations. Your guide, who is local and has deep knowledge of the area and reindeer herding, will take you on a fascinating journey through Sámi history and everyday life in the reindeer herding culture.
The experience includes gathering in a lavvu around the fire, where the guide shares engaging stories and insights about Sámi culture. You will also hear traditional joik and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. A fire will be lit inside the lavvu, and some smoke may occur inside the tent. There will be plenty of photo opportunities so you can capture the meeting with the reindeer, the beautiful nature, and the unique atmosphere inside the lavvu. This excursion offers a genuine insight into Sámi culture and traditions, with close encounters with reindeer, stories shared in the lavvu, and a memorable and atmospheric experience you will not soon forget.
Transportation between the pier and the camp is included, and the program may be adjusted according to weather conditions and the needs of the reindeer herd to ensure animal welfare and safety at all times. Please dress according to the weather and wear good footwear, as short walks on uneven terrain should be expected. Children must be accompanied by adults, and due to the terrain the experience is not suitable for wheelchair users.
