Sunnmøre's only rock carvings are here in this seascape and depict a boy's dream; boats. The oldest boat in Northern Europe with a keel, Kvalsundskipet (the Kvalsund ship), was found here.
In the coastal town of Fosnavåg, the main street goes in and out of the harbour. The fishing boats are part of the city traffic, and sea eagles oversee everything. You can see them throughout the archipelago, and most often on the bird island, Runde. There is a population of just a hundred people here, but 500,000 seabirds. This is Norway's southernmost bird cliff, the third largest with well over 200 identified species and the greatest number of species in Scandinavia.
Here you can sense the shadow of the sea eagle hovering above you, or look deep into the eyes of the charming puffin while the summer sun hangs low over the distant horizon out at sea.
