Molde sits on the southern side of the Romsdal peninsula, with wide views across the fjord and towards the famous panorama of 222 mountain peaks. With fresh sea air, green gardens and colourful flowers in summer, the town has long been a favourite place for visitors.
Molde is best known as the City of Roses. Its mild climate helps flowers and gardens thrive, giving the town a bright and welcoming atmosphere. In July, Molde becomes one of Norway’s great music towns when the Molde International Jazz Festival fills the streets with concerts and world-class performers.
The town also has a strong history. People lived in this area thousands of years ago, and Molde later became a popular destination for European travellers. During World War II, King Haakon VII and the Norwegian government stayed here briefly before being evacuated as the town came under attack.
