About the excursion
A short boat trip with the local passenger ship followed by a guided tour to the factory musuem, visit to various handcraft workshops and then an hour with shopping on your own. Mainly indoors, but wear good shoes and warm clothes for transportation.

Travel like the locals and meet an industrial history at a complete retail centre just outside Ålesund where shopping, history, culture, culinary experiences and activities unite to create a unique atmosphere.
The factory "Devoldfabrikken" has a history that goes back 168 years. This was where the well-known Devold wool garments were produced for generations. Todays owner take great care to preserve the cultural heritage, and if you look closely, you will find many historical elements still visible in the modern café and the variety of outlet stores and unique function rooms.
The guided tour takes you to the museum and through the history of this industrial adventure. Among others things, you can find one of Norway's first power stations which still is fully operation and produces a significant part of the electricity they use at the factory today.
You will also visit the talented artists in the "Kunstnerhus" who have their own distinctive style at Devoldfabrikken, and provide you with both an exciting experience and new knowledge. In their open workshops you will see authentic craft traditions and get close to glassblowers, welders, blacksmiths and potters.
Afterwards you'll get an hour for shopping on your own.
